Pension Age Benefits
Below you can find information relating to the benefits you may be entitled to if you have reached pension age. If you are unsure of when you will reach pension age, the GOV.UK website provides a useful state pension calculator.
Mixed Age Couples
If you have reached pension age and your partner is still of of working age, or vice versa, your entitlement will be different.
Based on your circumstances, the Department for Work and Pensions will class you as a working age couple so generally you would need to claim Universal Credit for income and housing, rather than Pension Credit or Housing Benefit.

You can start claiming state pension once you are of pension age, however the amount will receive depends on the amount of years you have paid into National Insurance when you were of working age.
To start your state pension, you must now apply for it once you have received your letter telling you to do so. You can do this up to 3 months before your birthday.
