Wellbeing on a budget

Pound sign
1.

Take a breath! Have a walk in your local green space, meet friends or walk alone and enjoy the peace! Take a drink and snacks with you to prevent spending money whilst you are out.

A flask is a great way to keep warm in winter with a hot drink, or keep cool in the summer with an ice cold drink!

2.

A DIY spa is a great, budget-friendly activity to do alone, with friends or with your children. It uses products you already have at home and helps you to de-stress!

  • Make a face mask using products such as honey, banana and yogurt. Also add cucumber to your eyes to relax.
  • Light some candles for lighting and make a nice hot drink!
3.

Local libraries host free activities throughout the month which may include knitting, book clubs, crafting, or improving certain life skills etc. These activities are a great way to get out of the house, be sociable and meet new people, all whilst on a budget!

You could also find local support groups or groups that have similar interests to you. Look online, on local community notice boards or ask around.

4.

Exercise can be great for your physical and mental health, here are some tips to stay fit on a budget:

  • Use your local park's large open spaces, and gym equipment if they have this.
  • You can use household objects such as tins, full water bottles, or large books.
  • YouTube also has a range of great, free workout videos.
